Hajj Travellers are Advised to Avoid the Noon Sun

MAKKAH: To assist prevent heat exhaustion and sunstroke, the Ministry of Health has encouraged pilgrims to stay out of direct sunlight between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when temperatures at the sacred sites are at their maximum.

It has also been underlined how crucial it is to adhere to preventive measures like utilising umbrellas, drinking lots of water, and following directions from the authorities. According to the Saudi Press Agency, the rules were released to safeguard pilgrims and guarantee their security while performing the Hajj. According to the ministry, the number of heat exhaustion cases has decreased by 90% since the previous season.

The enhancement aligns with the objectives of the Pilgrim Experience Program and the Health Sector Transformation Program, both of which are a component of Vision 2030 and seek to guarantee a safer Hajj experience.

Stronger preventative efforts, more awareness campaigns, and efficient coordination amongst pertinent authorities were cited by the Ministry of Health as the reasons for the decline. As part of these efforts, an awareness kit in eight languages has been released to help people avoid heat-related ailments while doing the Hajj.
