Hoehne stated interest in adding more judges from the region to the roster of the esteemed awards, which currently includes judges from Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey, during his remarks at the second Saudi Film Confex in Riyadh on Wednesday.
“Although we don’t currently have any Saudi Arabian voters, that will change, and it will be my goal to win them over,” Hoehne stated. “We hope to continue growing and to become even more global than we are now.”
“We seek talented international journalists who report on entertainment media,” Hoehne clarified when asked about the voting procedure selection process. They have to apply and go through a screening process by our nine-member Membership Board of Directors, which includes Managing Director Shivani Pandya Malhotra.
“The Saudi film industry is one of the most promising and exciting because it’s new, and with anything new comes enormous potential,” Hoehne stated, expressing her excitement for the future of Saudi cinema. The films I’ve seen and the directors I’ll be meeting have me giddy.
Experts from the local and global film industries get together at the Saudi Film Confex to talk about ways to develop and bolster the Saudi film industry. The event, which is being organised by the Saudi Film Commission, is in line with the nation’s cultural goal of promoting more social and cultural diversity.
