JAZAN: An Ethiopian national was detained by Saudi Border Guard personnel in the Al-Dair neighbourhood of Jazan on suspicion of smuggling 114 kg of qat into the nation.
Authorities in Jazan’s Al-Ardah neighbourhood, meanwhile, thwarted a purported attempt to transport 280 kg of qat across the border. Four Yemeni nationals were detained by Border Guard land patrols in the Asir region’s Al-Rabuah area for reportedly smuggling 122 kg of qat.
Recent reports from the Saudi Press Agency state that all of the accused have been referred to the nation’s prosecuting authorities.
The government is urging residents and citizens to report drug smuggling or sales by dialling 999 in other parts of the Kingdom and 911 in Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province. You can also submit reports to the General Directorate of Narcotics Control by emailing or phoning 995.
