In Light of Growing Economic Connections, Jordan Anticipates Increasing Exports to Iraq

BAGHDAD: According to the Jordan News Agency, a group from Jordan arrived in Baghdad on Saturday with the goal of strengthening commercial ties and investigating potential new markets in Iraq, with an emphasis on increasing Jordanian exports. The visit took place at the Baghdad International Fair, where Jordanian industrial companies will exhibit their goods in a special pavilion. It was arranged by the Jordan Chamber of Industry in collaboration with Jordan Export House.

Additionally, the team will take part in a business roundtable between Jordan and Iraq, encouraging conversations between important business and industrial leaders from both countries. According to JCI Chairman Fathi Jaghbir, the initiative’s goal was to bring Jordanian exports to Iraq back to their pre-crisis levels, when almost 20% of Jordan’s overall exports went to the Iraqi market.

He emphasised the chamber’s dedication to boosting trade between the two nations and referred to Iraq as a “strategic depth” for Jordanian industry. Yarub Qudah, the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply for Jordan, and Khaled Batal, the Minister of Industry and Minerals for Iraq, will attend the forum. It will include a dialogue session on trade between Jordan and Iraq called “Visions and a Bright Future,” which will highlight the expanding cooperation between the public and private sectors.

According to Jaghbir, Jordanian exports to Iraq have increased by 45% in the last 12 months, indicating that continued cooperation between Jordanian and Iraqi business leaders are starting to yield “tangible” benefits.
