Hezbollah’s Armed Stance Sparks Fears of Lebanon War Amid Escalating Israeli Strikes

Two engineers were killed in southern Lebanon on Thursday after an Israeli drone strike targeted their car on the Khardali road, a key link between the Nabatieh and Marjayoun districts across the Litani River.

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, the attack left two dead and one injured. Media outlets linked to Hezbollah identified the victims as Ahmed Saad and Mustafa Rizk, engineers working with the group’s Jihad Al-Bina foundation. The Lebanese Order of Engineers said the two men were on their way to Khiam to assess damage caused during last year’s war with Israel, describing them as carrying out both their “professional and national duty.

Lebanon is growing increasingly anxious over the prospect of renewed conflict. Hezbollah, backed by Iran, has maintained a firm stance on retaining its weapons despite calls for disarmament. Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said in a televised interview that Hezbollah is currently refraining from action to avoid breaching the ceasefire with Israel but possesses the capability to alter the situation on the ground if it chooses. He also noted that Hezbollah is “rebuilding itself quickly” during his recent visit to Lebanon.
