JEDDAH: From November 3 to 6, Jeddah will host the first International Symposium for the Conservation of Sea Turtles, bringing the Red Sea front and centre in international marine conservation efforts.
According to a report by the Saudi Press Agency on Friday, the event will bring together a distinguished group of more than thirty local and international specialists and researchers who are dedicated to safeguarding marine biodiversity and endangered sea turtle species.
The General Organisation for the Conservation of Coral Reefs and Turtles in the Red Sea (SHAMS) is hosting the symposium, which will include panel discussions and presentations on the most recent scientific findings, creative approaches to protecting sea turtles, and tactics for global cooperation.
The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture emphasised in a statement the symposium’s significance as a forum for advancing successful conservation plans and guaranteeing the long-term viability of the Red Sea’s distinctive marine ecology.
Through innovation in marine protection, SHAMS’s projects seek to improve environmental awareness and create cutting-edge conservation policies throughout the Red Sea.According to the Ministry, this event will strengthen Saudi Arabia’s standing in marine environmental protection while supporting the sustainable conservation of marine species and their natural habitats in the Red Sea.
