BEIRUT: Given that it focusses on the shared interests of the brotherly Arab nations, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said he hoped that “the upcoming extraordinary Arab Summit, scheduled to be held next week in Cairo, would yield a unified Arab position to address the region’s current challenges.” Along with a diplomatic team, Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi visited Aoun on Wednesday.
“The challenges are significant and ongoing and require a unified Arab stance to face them amid the developments in southern Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine,” he stated. “The existence of a united (front) is sufficient to reinforce the Arab position and enable it to influence the course of events,” he continued. “The aid given to Lebanon, including medications, medical support, setting up training sessions, and providing university scholarships,” Aoun commended Oman.
“The Omani airline would resume flights to Lebanon as soon as possible,” he added. The Omani minister congratulated Aoun “on his election as president” and emphasised “the strong relations between Lebanon and Oman,” as well as Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. In the interest of the two brotherly nations, he also gave Aoun “an official invitation to visit Oman and discuss ways to develop and activate bilateral relations.”
