At The Makkah Forum, Saudi Arabia Fortifies its Halal Leadership by Signing 13 New Agreements

JEDDAH: At a special event in Makkah, 13 agreements were signed, bolstering Saudi Arabia’s position as a leader in the halal business by increasing investment, fortifying certification requirements, and improving food production. The agreements, which were revealed at the second Makkah Halal Forum, which took place from February 25 to 27, featured collaborations with Al-Watania Poultry, Golden Chicken Farms Co., and Ajlan & Bros Holding Group and the Halal Products Development Co., a division of the Public Investment Fund.

In order to improve international certification and industry research, the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development has inked agreements with Slovenia’s KulinWorld, Thailand’s Halal Science Centre, and Brazil’s Fambras Halal. In order to improve the infrastructure for the manufacturing of halal food, the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones, or MODON, also signed agreements with Ghitha Alzad Food Industries and First Milling Co.

The symposium, which was opened by Saudi Commerce Minister Majid Al-Kassabi and has as its theme “Sustainable Development through Halal,” supports the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 objectives of private sector growth and economic diversification. The Kingdom, the cradle of Islam, has always been a reliable supplier of halal goods and is using its clout to dominate the $7 trillion worldwide halal industry, which is expected to grow to $10 trillion by 2030.
