RIYADH: On Tuesday, Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch and Saudi Arabia’s Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif met in Marrakesh. They reviewed existing security cooperation and talked about a number of topics of mutual interest during their discussion, which was conducted on the sidelines of the Fourth Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety. According to the Saudi Press Agency, the meeting was attended by Moroccan Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit, Saudi Ambassador to Morocco Sami Al-Saleh, and a number of other high-ranking officials.
Prince Abdulaziz praised Morocco’s efforts to host the conference in his remarks, emphasising the country’s vital role in promoting collaboration on road safety, preserving lives, and tackling issues in the sector. He reiterated Saudi Arabia’s steadfast dedication to road safety, acknowledging it as a major economic, security, and public health concern.
Prince Abdulaziz emphasised the terrible worldwide toll of traffic accidents, which claim over 1.3 million lives each year and cause millions more to be seriously injured, impeding both individual and societal advancement. He urged the creation of mechanisms to lessen injuries and work towards a future with fewer road casualties, emphasising the necessity of effective solutions.
Prince Abdulaziz emphasised the significant negative effects that traffic-related injuries have on society, the economy, and human health, as well as the Kingdom’s resolve to address these issues with creativity and dedication.
