By May, Saudi Arabia Will Export Industrial Robots, According to Alat CEO

RIYADH: By the end of May, Saudi Arabia plans to export industrial robots that can complete manufacturing jobs more quickly than people to foreign markets, according to an official. These robots will transform the manufacturing and assembly processes, not only in the Kingdom but also worldwide, according to Amit Midha, CEO of Alat, a firm supported by the Public Investment Fund, who spoke at the Private Sector Forum in Riyadh on February 12.

Midha disclosed that this historic accomplishment was the consequence of Alat and SoftBank Group signing a strategic cooperation agreement in February 2024 to establish a joint venture for the production of industrial robots in Saudi Arabia. This development is in line with the Kingdom’s overarching Vision 2030 objective, which is to position the nation by the end of this decade as a global centre of innovation and technology.

Robots will be manufactured in Riyadh and exported to countries worldwide by May of this year. In order to create state-of-the-art industrial robots, we are investing in a fully automated production and engineering hub,” Midha stated. “Imagine the robots that can program themselves,” he continued. Consider robots that are three to five times faster than a typical worker. The way, where, and what can be made could be completely transformed by these robots.
