YORK—In his statement at the UN Summit of the Future, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha highlighted Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s revolutionary support for women and youth. He praised this effort as a significant example of empowerment and inclusiveness in Saudi Arabia.
In addition to inspiring the Saudi people, Al-Swaha observed that the Crown Prince’s vision advances innovation and technology while also creating a global push for economic diversification through the empowerment of women and youth.
During the “Hope of Digital” session, he emphasised that Saudi Arabia had surpassed both the EU and G20 averages in terms of the percentage of women working in the tech sector, having reached 35% in just six years.
The minister told powerful tales of empowerment, such as how women and young people substantially contributed to Misk Foundation programming that trained one million people through the “Saudi Codes” initiative.
In addition, he acknowledged the accomplishment of having Rayyanah Barnawi—the first Arab Muslim woman astronaut—arrive at the International Space Station.
In her conclusion, Al-Swaha declared that these measures have helped Saudi Arabia rise to the top of several international indices, most notably the UN E-Government Development Index 2024, in which it ranked second among G20 countries and fourth overall.
