RIYADH: According to the Saudi Press Agency on Saturday, Saudi officials detained 21,971 individuals in a single week for violating laws pertaining to residency, employment, and border security.
An official report states that 13,186 persons were arrested for breaking residency restrictions, 5,427 were detained for attempting to cross the border illegally, and 3,358 were detained for labor-related reasons.
A maximum of 15 years in prison, a fine of up to SR1 million ($260,000), and the seizure of vehicles and property are all possible consequences for anyone found to be aiding unlawful entry into the Kingdom, including by offering transportation and lodging, according to the Ministry of Interior.
To report suspected infractions, call the toll-free numbers 911 in Makkah and Riyadh and 999 or 996 in other parts of the Kingdom.
