Investment Negotiations Strengthen Mining relations Between Saudi Arabia and Italy

JEDDAH: After senior officials met in Rome to discuss renewable energy, sustainable solutions, and luring investment to the Kingdom’s growing exploration industry, mining ties between Saudi Arabia and Italy are expected to improve.

On October 14, Bandar Alkhorayef, the Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, began his three-day tour by meeting with Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, the Italian Minister of Environment and Energy Security.

Saleh Al-Sulami, CEO of the National Industrial Development Centre, and Prince Faisal bin Sattam bin Abdulaziz, Saudi ambassador to Italy, attended the meeting, which highlighted the value of cooperative development and the strategic partnership between the two countries in a number of areas, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The purpose of the official visit is to strengthen mining and industrial collaboration and investigate cooperative opportunities that are in line with the Kingdom’s National Industrial Strategy.

This follows a rise in non-oil exports from Saudi Arabia to Italy, which hit SR2.8 billion ($747 million) in 2023, while Italy’s total non-oil imports came to SR21.8 billion.
