KAUST's Innovative sustainability Initiatives Propel Vision 2030

RIYADH: By addressing ecological issues and promoting economic innovation, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology is influencing Saudi Arabia’s future with a vision that combines cutting-edge research and workable solutions.

KAUST president Sir Edward Byrne stressed the university’s vital role in accomplishing the Kingdom’s ambitious aims in an interview with Arab News on the fringes of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification COP16 in Riyadh. He stated, “KAUST has two major contributions to make: technology implementation to enable the journey, and brilliant science to validate the principles and the direction forward.”

In line with Vision 2030, KAUST’s Accelerating Impact Strategy centres on converting research into useful solutions. The university’s initiatives involve tackling urgent environmental issues, promoting economic growth, and establishing KAUST as a world leader in research.

Leading the way in advances in fields essential to Saudi Arabia’s future, including agriculture, energy, and water management, is KAUST. The university’s Center for Sustainable Food Production is creating crops that can withstand salt and cutting-edge soil technologies to improve dryland farming.
