Early Life Of Farrukh Mobeen
Farrukh Mobeen’s unconventional career journey began with a solid foundation in Computer Engineering. As a software developer, he began his career on proprietary and open-source platforms, debugging and coding with precision. Yet, this technical expertise laid the groundwork for a successful transition into technology sales, where his unique blend of technical expertise and business acumen would thrive. He adds, “In a twist of fate, I found myself into full-fledged sales – a move that initially felt like a misstep but ultimately became the launchpad for my career. This unexpected shift taught me a valuable lesson: sometimes, the most significant opportunities arise from what appears to be a setback.”
Farrukh’s career gained momentum when he joined Microsoft, which became his training ground in sales. Under the guidance of his mentors, he developed a sales approach emphasizing clarity and simplicity. This foundation served him well when he joined Oracle as an account manager, where his growth was swift and steady. By 32, Farrukh had become Oracle’s youngest sales manager, rapidly advancing to senior sales manager and sales director.
With two decades of IT industry experience, he brings a unique fusion of technical expertise and strategic thinking to his role. His philosophy remains unchanged: breaking down complexities into manageable pieces and prioritizing simplicity and effectiveness in client, partner, and team interactions.
Farrukh Mobeen even mentions, “Today, as a Director at Oracle, I continue to apply these principles, always looking for new ways to innovate and drive success. I’ve learned that as you climb higher, progress becomes more challenging. But the journey continues, and I’m excited to see where it leads next.”
Traits Of An Efficient Leader
Sharing his perspective on effective leadership, Farrukh mentions, “There is no such thing as good or bad leaders, you are either a leader or you are not, period! There can be good or bad managers as it’s a title – Leadership is an approach.”
Farrukh Mobeen believes that leading with trust is a must, nobody expects leaders to be right all the time, but they expect them to own up to their mistakes rather than hiding behind the circumstances. “Leadership is all about growth and empowerment, and nobody is perfect, including me. My approach is simple: provide direction, clarify objectives, and trust individuals to find their solutions. By fostering freedom to innovate, I aim to cultivate more leaders, not followers.” Farrukh Mobeen further adds.
Staying Ahead Of The Curve
The ongoing digital revolution is reshaping society, fueled by breakthroughs in emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, blockchain, the Internet of Things, and big data analytics.
Farrukh Mobeen believes that these changes have positively increased efficiency, connectivity, and innovation across industries. He adds, “Digital technologies have transformed business, information access, and global communication. They also hold potential for addressing healthcare, governance, and education challenges. However, concerns surround data privacy, cybersecurity, job displacement, digital divide, and unequal distribution of benefits, raising questions about social equity and inclusion.”
Successfully navigating the digital revolution demands a delicate balance between harnessing innovation and mitigating its negative consequences, fostering a sustainable and inclusive future.
Message To Aspiring Professionals
Addressing the beginners in tech industry, Farrukh Mobeen shares, “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments. No matter how talented you are, lack of discipline will stagnate growth at some point in time. Learn from rejections, seek feedback, and use it to improve your approach. And remember, persistence and resilience are key traits in sales.”
