JEDDAH On Monday, the foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which unites 57 Arab and Muslim nations, demanded that all legal and practical means be used to bring Israel to justice and stop it from carrying out its crimes against the Palestinian people. The Council of OIC Foreign Ministers’ 21st Extraordinary Session, which ended in Jeddah, emphasized the necessity of concerted efforts to suspend Israel’s UN membership.
The foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) urged for more research on whether Israel’s membership in the UN is compatible with the Charter, given its violations of its conditions, while Israeli occupation troops continue to commit crimes of genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The foreign ministers also asked for assistance in efforts to abolish Israel’s impunity, hold it responsible for its war crimes and violations, impose sanctions on it, stop the flow of military supplies, ammunition, and weapons to Israel, and examine diplomatic and economic ties with the Jewish nation.
The extraordinary session underlined that Israel is accountable for and subject to punishment under international criminal law for all of its crimes, which include crimes against humanity, war crimes, and genocide. It underlined how crucial it is that the case be heard by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) because Israel, the occupying state, is involved.
