Protesters Demand That F-35 Partner Nations Stop Supplying Israel

London: The Guardian said on Tuesday that more than 200 organisations around the world have called on nations participating in the F-35 fighter program to stop arms deliveries to Israel due to concerns about potential violations of humanitarian law. It occurs as the war in Gaza approaches its 500th day. The Israeli Air Force has been using the F-35 jet frequently for bombing missions during the conflict.

Government ministers from the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Italy, the Netherlands, and Norway received a letter signed by the organisations on Monday. The nations that produce the jet, as well as Jordan, Lebanon, India, Belgium, Switzerland, Ireland, and other nations, are among the 232 signatories. The Campaign Against Arms Trade organised the letter, which was signed by prominent charities like Oxfam, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch.

It states: “Israel’s failure to adhere to international law has been devastatingly evident during the last 15 months. Individually and collectively, the F-35 program’s partners have not been able to stop Israel from using these jets to carry out grave breaches of international law. “States have either refused to comply with their international legal obligations or asserted that the F-35 program’s design precludes the application of arms controls to any end-user, rendering the program as a whole in violation of international law.”
