RIYADH: From September 24 to 27, Beijing, China, is hosting the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities plenary meeting. Mazin Al-Kahmous, president of the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority, is leading a delegation from Saudi Arabia.
During the conference, Al-Kahmous expressed gratitude to China for serving as the event’s host and highlighted the network’s initiatives to combat emerging corruption crimes, such as money laundering and the unauthorised use of virtual currency.
He underlined Saudi Arabia’s dedication to strengthening international cooperation in the fight against transnational corruption, apprehending corrupt people, and tracing illicit cash.
Al-Kahmous mentioned how the GlobE Network helps the authority engage with partners and share information about entities that are suspected of being involved.
The UN formally endorsed the GlobE Network on December 17, 2021, during the ninth session of the Conference of the States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption in Egypt. The network was first introduced by Saudi Arabia during the 2020 G20 Summit. During the special UN General Assembly session on corruption in 2021, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres commended the Kingdom for its efforts in establishing the network.
