RIYADH: During a UN summit in Switzerland, Saudi Arabia demanded more attention be paid to the state of human rights in Palestine and other occupied Arab lands. According to the Saudi Press Agency, the Kingdom also reiterated its steadfast support for the creation of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital along the 1967 lines. Hala Al-Tuwaijri, the head of the Kingdom’s delegation and president of the Saudi Human Rights Commission, made this statement at the high-level portion of the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.
Al-Tuwaijri claimed that Vision 2030, which is founded on the ideas of equality, nondiscrimination, and the right to progress, has propelled Saudi Arabia’s notable human rights achievements. “This vision has improved the quality of life for everyone while empowering women, young people, and vulnerable groups, such as migrant workers, the elderly, and people with disabilities,” Al-Tuwaijri stated.
“Moreover, with people and their rights at the centre of national priorities, Vision 2030 has improved the effectiveness of relevant authorities to host significant international events and initiatives.” Al-Tuwaijri underscored the Kingdom’s dedication to fortifying its legislative structure, which has established a robust legal system to safeguard and preserve human rights.
