RIYADH — Imports of PVC-coated textiles and fabrics from China and South Korea would be subject to strict anti-dumping procedures, according to the General Authority of Foreign Trade (GAFT).
The decision was announced by GAFT chairman and minister of trade Dr. Majed Al-Qasabi, and it was published in the official gazette on December 16, 2024. The measures will go into force on December 17, 2024, and will last for five years.
According to a comprehensive table in the official statement, the judgment requires the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority to enforce and collect anti-dumping taxes on the designated imports at rates ranging from 25.56% to 51%.
Under the **Law of Trade Remedies in International Trade**, the actions are a part of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to safeguard its domestic sector against unfair trade practices.
Following a complaint from the domestic industry, an inquiry was launched on November 30, 2023, which led to the anti-dumping measures. The inquiry’s conclusions supported the implementation of decisive actions to address unfair trade practices impacting the Saudi market. The investigation was carried out in compliance with the Law of Trade Remedies in International Trade and its Executive Regulations.
