RIYADH: Higher required localisation rates in four private sector health professions have been declared by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. The required localisation rate will increase to 65% in radiography, 70% in medical laboratories, 80% in therapeutic nutrition, and 80% in physiotherapy starting on April 17 of next year. This will initially be applicable to significant facilities in other areas as well as all facilities in major cities, including Riyadh, Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah, Dammam, and Alkhobar.
All facilities across the country will be subject to the new mandatory localisation rates during the second phase, which begins on October 17, 2025. Companies who don’t fulfil Saudi localisation requirements risk fines. It supports the Kingdom’s initiatives to improve the standard of private sector healthcare and increase job possibilities for Saudi citizens. The two ministries started enforcing a necessary 35 percent localisation rate for dentistry professionals in March of this year, and the resolution went into force on March 10.
Additionally, they imposed localisation ratios to private sector businesses that had three or more dental professionals working for them. The two ministries are working to expand employment prospects for both men and women in the Kingdom.
