Saudi Arabia Opens Doors for Syrian Officers’ Military Training

DAMASCUS — Syrian Defence Minister Muharraf Abu Qasra announced that Syrian military officers are now receiving advanced training from military colleges in Saudi Arabia and Turkey as part of a broader effort to modernise the armed forces and enhance regional defence cooperation. New Arab Muslim Network.The Ministry of Defense has dispatched delegations of officers to both countries, focusing on capacity building, expertise exchange, and instruction on the latest weapons systems and modern warfare tactics.​

During a recent reception honoring the departing officers, Abu Qasra praised the cooperation extended by Saudi Arabia and Turkey and emphasized the importance of raising scientific and professional standards among the personnel. He underscored the government’s commitment to strengthening military capabilities and fostering knowledge sharing in pursuit of enhanced security and stability across the region.​

This initiative follows growing defense ties between Damascus, Riyadh, and Ankara, marked by agreements on joint training, military supply shipments, and strategic collaboration aimed at rebuilding Syria’s military infrastructure after years of conflict and international isolation. The training programs also support Syria’s effort to stabilize internally and counter ongoing threats by upgrading its military proficiency in coordination with regional powers.
