Saudi Aramco Keeps April’s Butane and Propane Pricing the Same

Saudi Aramco Keeps April's Butane and Propane Pricing the Same

RIYADH: In a statement issued on Thursday, Saudi Aramco maintained the official selling prices for butane and propane for April at the same levels as the previous month.  Propane is priced at $605 per tonne and butane at $615 per tonne.

Both butane and propane are forms of liquefied petroleum gas that are frequently used as feedstock in the petrochemical industry, for heating, and as motor fuel. These gases are appropriate for a variety of particular applications because, despite their similarities, they have varied boiling points.

For contracts that provide LPG from the Middle East to the Asia-Pacific area, Aramco’s OSPs are crucial benchmarks. Since propane is a major source of house heating, demand usually peaks in the winter, which frequently results in price increases.

The dynamics of supply and demand are directly reflected in price changes. While the price of butane declined by $20 to $605 per tonne last month, the Saudi company cut the OSP for propane by $20 per tonne. For contracts that provide LPG from the Middle East to the Asia-Pacific area, Aramco’s OSPs are crucial benchmarks.
