The Saudi Shoura Council Calls For Collaboration at The Mediterranean Summit

ROME: According to the Saudi Press Agency, a team from the Kingdom’s Shoura Council participated in the 19th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean on Thursday as an observer. The head of the council’s delegation, Vice Speaker Mishaal bin Fahm Al-Sulami, opened PAM’s two-day session in Rome by highlighting the potential to improve collaboration between the Kingdom and Mediterranean nations across a range of areas.

The Mediterranean basin and the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), of which Saudi Arabia is a member, might potentially work together, according to Al-Sulami. He outlined the Kingdom’s efforts to advance international security, peace, stability, and development, including as the Middle East Green Initiative, the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor, the Yemen truce, the Sudanese peace talks, and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Al-Sulami also discussed the humanitarian assistance given to nations hit by natural catastrophes and conflicts, as well as Saudi Arabia’s pivotal position in this week’s US-Russia negotiations, which took place in Riyadh. The event was hosted by the speakers of the Italian Senate and Chamber of Deputies and involved more than 300 delegates from national parliaments, international organisations, academia, and diplomatic missions.

The meeting was called by PAM President Enaam Mayara of Morocco. The attendees were urged to “keep working for peace, sustainable development, and human rights for the people of the Mediterranean region and our world” in a video message from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
