A sizable contingent of falcon aficionados gathered on Friday for the first auction night of the International Falcon Breeders Auction to watch the auction of two outstanding falcons.
The Saudi Falcons Club is hosting the event, which runs until August 24 at its headquarters in Malham, north of Riyadh.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, it showcases more than 35 prestigious falcon production farms from 16 different nations, offering their highly valued birds for purchase.
An additional falcon from the Polish Fire Falcons farm sold for SR105,000, raising the total for the evening to SR170,000. A Falco cherrug, referred to as a Hur locally, commanded a bid of SR65,000 ($17,320).
Throughout the festival, there will be twelve auction nights. Live streaming of competitions and auctions is available on TV networks and the club’s social media accounts.
Each auction night, the club makes an announcement about the falcons up for bid, according to SPA.
The auction, which has sold more than SR18 million in the last three years, promotes new international breeding farms and encourages cooperation between investors and producers.
For falconers and breeders worldwide, the event offers a priceless chance to network. It is consistent with the Saudi Falcons Club’s mission to protect the sport’s legacy and elevate the Kingdom to a prominent position in the world.
