The Yanbu Grain Handling Terminal at Yanbu Commercial Port was officially opened on Sunday by Abdulrahman Alfadley, Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture and Chairman of the Board of the Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC). The National Grain Company is in charge of running the terminal. The inaugural ceremony was attended by a number of public and commercial sector representatives.
With a 650-meter conveyor belt, 12 silos with a combined capacity of 96,000 tons, and the ability to discharge grain straight off ships at an hourly rate of 800 tons, the Yanbu Grain Handling Terminal has a 156,000-ton storage capacity. It can handle more than three million tons of grain annually.
Through the Yanbu terminal, the National Grain Company hopes to improve grain handling, trading, and storage, fortifying supply lines and guaranteeing Saudi Arabian price stability. Both public and private importers can receive logistical support from the terminal.
The National Grain Company was founded in 2020 as a strategic alliance between SALIC and Bahri to enhance the Kingdom’s competitiveness and meet its future feed grain needs. According to the Saudi Press Agency, the Yanbu Grain Handling Terminal at Yanbu Commercial Port is intended to function as a distinctive worldwide logistics center that links three continents.
