RIYADH: A Saudi physician revealed the heartwarming tale of how she started a business that offers rural areas throughout the Kingdom free AI-powered eye exams.
Speaking at the second day of the Creative Women Forum in Riyadh, SDM CEO Dr. Selwa Al-Hazzaa stated that she founded the business with her son, Naif Al-Obaidallah, who is currently the managing director.
“I have yet to come across a business where a mother and her son are co-founders,” Al-Hazzaa remarked. If this indicates anything, it is that both ourselves and our children have faith in one another.
SDM employs AI technology to perform mass detection of chronic diseases through the retina in collaboration with charity organisations.
“I want healthcare to be more accessible to all.” You should be eligible for the same healthcare if you are a VIP or a caretaker who sweeps. AI is acting in this way. Al-Hazzaa declared, “We’re going to make it affordable and easily accessible.”
We have already completed more than 25,000 free exams. We don’t charge. We began with the Ministry of Health and visited impoverished, densely crowded, and illiterate areas. Today, I oversee 13 charitable centres that diagnose diabetes.
