At the Riyadh Auction, a Falcon Chick For $106k Stole the Show

RIYADH: The most costly peregrine falcon chick from the Al-Dabdaba neighbourhood of the Hafr Al-Batin governorate was sold at the Saudi Falcons Club’s auction. The Saudi Press Agency stated that a chick offered by falconers Sanafi and Mutlaq Al-Dosari sold for SR400,000 ($106,000), making it the most expensive bird at the auction. The club’s Malham headquarters, close to Riyadh, is the venue for the tournament, which started on October 1 and runs through November 15. The Al-Dabdaba falcon sold for more than SR240,000 a few days ago, despite fierce competition and a starting price of SR60,000.

Considering that it was his first time attending the event, Mutlaq Al-Dosari expressed satisfaction with the result. He commended the Saudi Falcons Club’s significant work and the advantages it offers falconers. “I received a lot of offers outside the auction, but I insisted on selling it through the Saudi Falcons Club’s auction,” Al-Dosari continued. The bidding process for his falcon took five to six minutes, he said.

Throughout the hunting season, the club provides falconers with a wide range of services, such as lodging and shipping birds from different areas to the auction location. The SPA further noted that because the auction is live-streamed on social media and television, bidding is aggressive and quick. In keeping with Vision 2030, it contributes significantly to the preservation and advancement of Saudi Arabia’s historic, cultural, and economic legacy.
