JEDDAH: During LEAP 2025, tech and tourist partnerships were also revealed, along with telecom licenses intended to stimulate SR1 billion ($267 million) in investment in Saudi Arabia. The conference, which took place in Riyadh, focused on the adoption of artificial intelligence, sustainable luxury, and digital innovation. The Kingdom’s standing as a regional centre for digital transformation was further solidified by the significant investment agreements and strategic alliances on display at the event.
On February 12, the Communications, Space, and Technology Commission of Saudi Arabia declared the granting of four licenses, encompassing those for non-terrestrial network operations, telecommunication services, and carrier service providers. The Saudi Press Agency states that the action is to promote the expansion of Saudi Arabia’s telecom industry by promoting the construction of sophisticated smart infrastructure, enabling the newest technologies, enhancing service competition, and drawing in further investment.
Raqeem Smart Solutions, Saudi Arabia Railways, and Water Transmission and Technologies Co. were all awarded carrier service provider licenses by CST. Under the permit, utility firms are permitted to give licensed individual service providers access to excess telecommunications infrastructure capacity, such as fibre optics and towers.
