Our first question was, “Which career path led you to where you are today?”
Colleen shared, “After working as a Junior Interior Designer for nearly three years in the Philippines catering to VIP clients, I ventured into diverse fields. This included roles as a Property Consultant in Real Estate and as a Field Representative for WWF for Nature. Upon my return to Yemen in 2013, I transitioned to a local company as an Executive Secretary, overseeing the Pharmaceutical and Advertising & Promotions Divisions. This role paved the way for my evolution into a Business Woman, creativepreneur, and Technopreneur, earning me titles like “Interior Designer turned Business Woman, creativepreneur, and Technopreneur” or “A Filipina with a Hijab – from Asia to the Middle East.”
The Inspiration Behind It All
We were intrigued by the factors that sparked Colleen Thalia Jamias’s inspiration to initiate her organization. So, we asked, ”What inspired you to develop the idea of your company?”
She responds, “Creo LifeZtyle was founded in 2016 & COCO COLLEEctioN in 2023 with a mission to empower women and introduce them to different cultures and trends through cosmetics, skincare, fashion, food, beauty technology, innovation, and sustainability. Our story began in 2013 when I was allergic to cosmetics and lived in Yemen, a war zone country with no available eyeliners and cosmetics. So, I was inspired to bring high-quality, affordable brands to the market and make them accessible to everyone despite the war situation in 2015, which lasted until 2022.
Our newest venture is beauty technology – a virtual try-on feature that allows customers to experiment with different shades and styles so they can find the perfect match, all done online in the comfort of their homes. This feature also aided in reducing the use of testers leading to garbage and pollution and as a safety during COVID-19.”

“In the beginning, our focus was exclusively on a single cosmetics brand. However, our business has since undergone substantial expansion. We diversified into skincare, introducing a range of cosmetic brands sourced from the US, Poland,Germany Korea, and China. Moreover, we delved into the realm of subscription boxes. Embracing technological advancements, we integrated beauty technology into our offerings. Additionally, we established a specialized platform tailored to the Yemen market (Soon UAE & Philippines). Currently, we’re embarking on a new venture into the Kpop Entertainment industry, all while maintaining our distribution of K-beauty brands in the Yemen market (Soon UAE & Philippines).” Colleen replied.

To understand the significant challenges her company faces, we asked, “What are the most challenging situations your company overcomes?”
She explained, “The challenging circumstances, including the war situation, limited access to airports, economic instability, and transportation constraints for goods delivery and ordering from outside Yemen, have posed significant hurdles for our business.”

Colleen emphasized, “Patience, faith, and a focused approach on taking action are crucial. By continuously seeking and researching, opportunities will undoubtedly arise.”
