Shisir Khanal, the foreign minister of Nepal, came in India on Friday for a two-day official visit. Khanal will leave on Sunday after meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday. Our External Affairs Minister will meet with the recently arriving Nepali Foreign Minister. Our goal with Nepal is broad and includes everything from commerce and investment to people-to-people connections and development collaboration. The MEA spokeswoman stated, “We are eager to further strengthen this multifaceted partnership.”
Jaiswal was also questioned on if the Foreign Minister would respond to the Prime Minister of Nepal’s recent claims that India has taken over some of their territory. The meeting will cover all relevant bilateral issues,” stated Jaiswal. We have already outlined our stance on border issues and established a bilateral process to address and settle them. Any high-level visits will be updated at the proper time.
Since Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s administration took office in March of this year, Khanal’s visit represents the highest-level official engagement. Khanal’s visit follows Jaishankar’s invitation.Mr. Khanal, the foreign minister, will formally meet with Dr. Jaishankar, the Indian minister of external affairs, in New Delhi during the visit. In order to improve cooperation in important areas like commerce, investment, connectivity, energy, and people-to-people ties, the two sides will talk about issues of common interest, according to the Nepal Foreign Ministry announcement.
