List of Offenses Involving the Drug Methamphetamine

RIYADH: Sheikh Saud bin Abdullah Al-Mujib, the Attorney General of Saudi Arabia, has listed the criminal offenses associated with methamphetamine. The Saudi Press Agency said on Friday that Sheikh Saud’s March 1, 2025, decision is part of the country’s efforts to stop drug use and sales.

Possession, smuggling, procuring, purchasing, transporting, and manufacturing are criminal offenses that call for an arrest. Additionally, it is illegal to use or consume for personal use. In addition to causing major behavioral and psychological problems, methamphetamine—also referred to as shabu, crystal meth, or the poor man’s cocaine—also fuels an increase in crime and violence.

According to the research, the problem must thus be aggressively addressed in line with deterrent laws and rulings. Although the statutes prohibiting drug misuse and trafficking are strict, they also give people the opportunity to pursue recovery and reform.

Under the Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law, the user “shall be granted the opportunity to receive treatment,” according to Article 42.According to the legislation, if the user or addict or one of his family members comes forward with the intention of receiving treatment, this can be done without “legal accountability, by not filing a lawsuit against the user or addict.
