MOSCOW: Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the Palestinian National Authority, has reaffirmed his opposition to any effort to drive Palestinians off their land. According to the Kremlin’s official website, Abbas stated that “the Palestinian people are holding on to their land, and we categorically oppose attempts by the Americans and Israelis to expatriate Palestinians beyond Palestinian territory” while speaking with Russian President Vladimir Putin at Moscow’s presidential palace.
The Palestinian people “will not abandon their land, whatever the cost,” he declared. Abbas emphasized the necessity of carrying out US President Donald Trump’s peace proposal in its entirety, which would result in the evacuation of occupying forces and the start of the reconstruction process.
He underlined that the West Bank and the enclave were two sections of a single territorial unit with a single, homogeneous set of civilian institutions, and that the Palestinian Authority will have a major role in managing the Gaza Strip.
He emphasized that “Israeli settler colonialism and Israeli acts of terror in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, along with the release of withheld Palestinian funds and the cessation of all measures that undermined the Palestinian Authority and the two-state solution” must end immediately.
