JEDDAH: As part of a project overseen by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, a volunteer medical team in Nigeria completed 75 cardiac surgeries in just four days. The project, which is being carried out in collaboration with the Al-Balsam Association for Training and Health Development, intends to perform 80 diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterisation operations in addition to 28 open heart surgeries.

At the Nizamiye and Zenith hospitals in Abuja, the team completed 65 interventional catheterisation operations and 10 open heart surgeries in the first four days. In addition, it offered consultations, 13 medical examinations, and other medical services.

Yousef bin Mohammed Al-Balawi, the Saudi ambassador to Nigeria, paid the team a visit at Zenith Hospital. Physicians, consultants, nurses, technicians, and administrative personnel make up the ten-person Saudi team.At both hospitals, the volunteers are assisting local medical experts with patient assessments, treatments, and procedures.
