Hezbollah, an armed group in Lebanon, released a nearly ten-minute video on Tuesday that it claimed was captured by its surveillance plane and featured images of 17 military locations in the Israeli-occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
The video is the second in a series meant to demonstrate the extent of Hezbollah’s observation of Israel as tensions rise over Israel’s conflict with Hamas in Gaza and the regular gunfire that occurs across Lebanon’s border with Israel.
The group with ties to Iran released a nine-minute film in June that it said showed surveillance footage of various areas in Israel, including the seaports and airport of the city of Haifa.
Muhammad Afif, the media relations chief for Hezbollah, stated, “the enemy and its army receive a clear message from the publication of this video.”
Afif continued, “The significance comes from showcasing our technological and technical prowess in the field of surveillance and acquiring the essential information we need in times of war.”
After the first footage was released in June, the pro-Iranian Lebanese television program Al Mayadeen claimed an unmanned aircraft had evaded Israel’s defenses and returned to Lebanon without being noticed or shot down.
Since the Israel-Hamas war began in October of last year, Hezbollah has launched both assault and surveillance drones into Israel, claiming the drone launches are a show of support for the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
