According to announcements by Eng, Saudi Arabia will increase its rail network to more than 8,000 kilometers in the upcoming years. As he opened the inaugural Saudi Rail Conference and Exhibition in Riyadh on Wednesday, he stated that this expansion would further cement Saudi Arabia’s standing as a worldwide logistics hub. High-profile officials, specialists, and decision-makers from the international railway sector attended the two-day event.

He highlighted the opening of the historic transportation project, symbolized by the Haramain High-Speed Railway (HHR), a state-of-the-art electric train network that links the sacred towns of Madinah and Makkah. Serving more than 20 million people and cutting down on road freight traffic by more than 1 million truck trips in the last year, the HHR has emerged as one of the fastest in the world since its inception in 2018.

A key component of Saudi Vision 2030, the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, is in line with these trends, Eng. Al-Jasser underlined. He commended the Kingdom’s leadership for its unmatched assistance to the transportation and logistics industry.
