The Riyadh International Book Fair 2025, organized by the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, hosted a workshop focused on effective methods for teaching the Arabic language.
Led by Dr. Bandar Al-Ghmaiz, a professor of Applied Linguistics at King Saud University, the session brought together Arabic language specialists and educators for non-native speakers from both inside Saudi Arabia and abroad.
Dr. Al-Ghmaiz spoke about the growing global interest in learning Arabic, saying that many people are drawn in the language not only to understand the Holy Qur’an but also to explore the rich Arab and Islamic cultural heritage. He added that Arabic is the becoming increasingly important in international business politics and culture making it one of the world’s most influential languages today.
He also highlighted how modern technology is the transforming the way Arabic is taught. New digital tools, he explained, make learning more interactive and help students use the language naturally in everyday situations.
Praising Saudi Arabia’s efforts in the advancing Arabic education Dr. Al-Ghmaiz pointed to the achievements of specialized university institutes and the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language. He described the Academy as a shining example of how to create high-quality academic content and design practical curricula and promote Arabic on a global scale.
