Before to the Trump-Putin Peace Negotiations on August 15, Zelenskyy Rules Against Making Territorial Concessions

Zelenskyy Rules Against Making Territorial Concessions

On Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared that Kyiv will not compromise on territory in any talks with Moscow, stating that Ukraine’s boundaries are set forth in its Constitution and cannot be altered.

The Ukrainian Constitution already provides an answer to the territorial dilemma of Ukraine. Nobody will be able or willing to stray from this. “Ukraines will not give the occupier their land,” Zelenskyy posted on Telegram.

His remarks were made only hours after U.S. President Donald Trump declared that he will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15 to talk about a possible solution to the conflict in Afghanistan.

Although it hasn’t been verified, media sources have indicated that Trump wants Zelenskyy to attend the meeting. Without Ukrainian involvement, Zelenskyy cautioned that any choices pertaining to Ukraine would be “stillborn” and “unworkable.”

Ukraine is prepared for “real decisions” that might lead to peace, he emphasized, but only if Kyiv is fully involved. Any decisions that are both against Ukraine and against us are also decisions against peace,” he stated.
