RIYADH: According to Major General Turki Al-Malki, the official spokesperson for the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, Aidrous Al-Zubaidi, the head of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), has left to an unidentified location.

Major General Al-Malki declared that on January 4, 2026, Al-Zubaidi was notified by the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition to travel to Saudi Arabia within 48 hours in order to meet with Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) of the Republic of Yemen, and the Coalition Forces Command to discuss the reasons behind the escalation and attacks on the governorates of Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra.

On January 5, the STC Presidency reaffirmed its active engagement in guaranteeing the success of the conference and expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s efforts in organizing a comprehensive Southern conference to examine methods to address the Southern issue.

As a result, on January 6, Al-Zubaidi told the Kingdom that he would be attending, and the group headed to the airport. But Yemenia Airways aircraft IYE 532, which was supposed to take off at 10.10 p.m. with the delegation, was delayed for over three hours.
