Five contracts totalling SR6 billion have been signed by the Riyadh Region Mayoralty to upgrade the capital city’s roadways over a five-year period. This is an expansion of its strategic ambitions to enhance the transit experience, since the contracts covered 83 million square meters of work for a thriving Riyadh that adheres to the highest efficiency and environmental requirements.
The contracts sought to develop the city’s safe transport system to a level above and beyond the requirements of international standards for evaluating road quality, as well as to elevate and improve road quality. Additionally, this will improve the sustainability and efficiency of the services offered, which will include remodelling and paving.
The north, south, east, west, and centre zones are the five zones into which the mayoralty divides the city in order to assign work priority based on exact criteria that come from a thorough inspection of all of the capital’s roads and streets. This will be accomplished by utilising the most recent technology and organising them into task areas that consider the condition of the current roadways, safety regulations, upkeep tasks, and cooperation with the activities of other city agencies.
