Energy Minister: The Minerals Sector is a Vital Component of Energy Security

RIYADH — Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman has announced that there is a worldwide scramble to capture vital minerals. “The minerals sector is an integral part of energy security linked to mining and mines,” he said on Wednesday, speaking at the second day of the fourth edition of the Future Minerals Forum in Riyadh.

The minister stated that energy security is dependent on the availability of infrastructure, which is tied to mining and mines. “In my case, I believe we have a big problem with mining as an energy security issue, and I will explain why. You know, we lived in an era and a period when everyone was talking about energy security involving risks that were more limited to the security of oil supplies in the Middle East,” he said, adding: “However, today, oil is no longer a challenge to energy security because of available reserves, infrastructure development, and a mature supply chain, apart from the fact that oil production has become more abundant.

It is not enough to have a buyer for petrol. The gas buyer must be a long-term buyer who can invest in infrastructure and distribution, among other things, so that the producer may continue to invest and ensure that there is a market for the gas, which also applies to electricity.”
