CAIRO: Egypt announced on Wednesday that all Palestinian groups had quickly expressed their support for the 15-person Palestinian technocratic council that will oversee Gaza after the assault. In October, US President Donald Trump mediated a 20-point Gaza truce plan that called for the Palestinian region to be managed by a committee under the direction of a so-called “Board of Peace,” which Trump would head.
Earlier in the day, Hamas officials said the organization had begun discussions with Egyptian mediators in Cairo on the committee, a component of Trump’s plan for a Gaza truce. We anticipate that the committee will be announced shortly after this agreement and sent to the Gaza Strip to oversee day-to-day operations and vital services,” Abdelatty stated.
Following Abdelatty’s declaration, the group received backing from most Palestinian factions. The groups, which included Islamic Jihad and Hamas, said in a statement that they had decided “to support the mediators’ efforts in forming the Palestinian National Transitional Committee to administer the Gaza Strip, while providing the appropriate environment” for it to start working.
