Geospatial Advancements Are Highlighted at the Jeddah Meeting

The purpose of the gathering was to promote the sharing of knowledge, experiences, and advancements in order to strengthen the contribution of geospatial data to the accomplishment of development objectives in Arab nations. Initiatives to empower Arab women in the geospatial information area were explored at the meeting. JEDDAH: The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information sponsored the 12th meeting of the Regional Committee of UN Global Geospatial Information Management for the Arab States, which concluded Tuesday in Jeddah.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the purpose of the meeting was to promote the sharing of knowledge, experiences, and advancements in order to strengthen the contribution of geospatial data to the accomplishment of development objectives in Arab nations.

Reviewing the Arab Committee’s 2024 annual report, tracking working group activity, and hearing from international organisations about geospatial data in the Arab world were all part of the meeting. Along with updates on the Kingdom’s hosting of the UN Global Geospatial Ecosystem Centre of Excellence, which will be constructed in Riyadh, noteworthy initiatives by the UN Global Geodetic Centre of Excellence and the UN Global Centre of Excellence for Geospatial Knowledge and Innovation were highlighted. According to the SPA, the UN Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management also considered contributions from various regional committees.
