Saudi Arabia Opposes Cooperation With Israel Without a Palestinian State and Denies the Relocation of Gazans

RIYADH: Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has repeatedly reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s long-standing view that the Palestinians must have their own independent state, saying on Wednesday that it is solid and not amenable to negotiation.

Shortly after President Donald Trump declared that he wants the United States to control the Gaza Strip once all Palestinians have been forced to leave the region and relocate to other nations, where settlements will be built for them, the Saudi Foreign Ministry released its statement.

In order to find a long-term solution to the war that has lasted for decades, the Kingdom’s authorities have long advocated for justice for the Palestinian people, who they believe should have their own state alongside Israel.

Saudi leaders have stated time and time again that the establishment of a viable Palestinian state inside the 1967 boundaries is a must for any official relations between the Kingdom and Israel. The ministry statement cited the crown prince’s speech at the Shoura Council on September 18, 2024, in which he emphasised that Saudi Arabia will not normalise relations with Israel without the creation of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Similar remarks were made by the crown prince during the exceptional Arab-Islamic summit in Riyadh on November 11, 2024, when he called for an end to Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands and emphasised the need to continue efforts to create a Palestinian state.
