“Gunjal Entangled” has its Saudi Debut at the Pakistan Embassy

The cast and crew of the Pakistani film “Gunjal Entangled” were welcomed by the Pakistani Embassy to the Saudi premiere of the movie on Thursday at the Cultural Palace in Riyadh.

“The ties between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan go beyond simple bilateral relations; they are based on brotherhood, and there are many areas where the interests of the two countries overlap.” Muazam Ali, the deputy head of mission of the Pakistani Embassy, told Arab News that he thought culture was one such area.

“Our goal is to demonstrate that Pakistan has a thriving film industry,” said Ali.

He declared, “We want to demonstrate to Saudi Arabia—our brothers and sisters—that the work produced by their Pakistani counterparts is impressive.”

“Gunjal Entangled” is based on the life and assassination of Iqbal Masih, a Pakistani crusader against child labor.

The film’s director, Shoaib Sultan, told Arab News, “Such an event has never happened here in Saudi Arabia where the cast and crew and team came to Saudi Arabia to screen the movie along with the audience.”

This movie honors a hero and is based on actual events. Iqbal Masih was his name, and he spoke for human rights and labor. This is a really significant subject, the filmmaker said.
