WASHINGTON — Former US President Donald Trump has publicly severed ties with one of his most vocal allies, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, calling her “Wacky Marjorie” and suggesting he may endorse a challenger against her in next year’s midterm elections “if the right person runs.”
The Georgia congresswoman, once a staunch Trump supporter and key figure in his MAGA movement, has clashed with Republican leadership in recent months while seemingly shifting her political stance. Greene, known for her high-profile loyalty to Trump during his presidency, notably wore the signature red MAGA cap at President Joe Biden’s 2024 State of the Union address.
Trump’s criticism marks a decisive break after months of tension. Accusing Greene of drifting “Far Left,” he wrote that she does nothing but “complain” and added, “I can’t take a ranting lunatic’s call every day,” referencing her frustration that he no longer returns her messages.
In response, Greene fired back on X (formerly Twitter), claiming the former president had “attacked me and lied about me.” She shared a screenshot of a text she said she sent to Trump regarding the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files, which she claimed triggered his outburst.
