Repeated Missile Alerts in Israel Leave Five People Lightly Injured

JERUSALEM: Israel’s emergency services reported five people were injured Tuesday by Iranian missiles and rockets fired from Lebanon, as the country braced for a “increase in fire” as Donald Trump’s ultimatum to Iran expired.

In the coastal town of Nahariya, less than 10 kilometers (six miles) from Israel’s northern border with Lebanon, the Magen David Adom emergency service said it treated a woman about 20 years old “in mild condition with a head injury from debris thrown by the blast” as a result of incoming rocket fire.

Paramedics reportedly treated a 46-year-old guy in the south of the country injured by interceptor debris, as well as a 36-year-old male in the north “with a shrapnel injury to his lower limbs.” Later in the day, MDA announced that it was “providing medical treatment to two casualties in mild condition, aged 30 and 50, with shrapnel injuries” in the south as a result of an Iranian missile fire.

As of 11:00 p.m. (2000 GMT), the Home Front Command had received over 20 notifications since midnight, warning of rockets fired from Lebanon, where Israeli soldiers are battling Iran-backed Hezbollah. The Israeli military also issued eight warnings for ballistic missile launch from Iran. In recent days, Israeli military journalists have reported an average of one or two rockets per alert.
