Israeli Military are Accused by Gaza authorities of Targeting a Hospital

Gaza

Gaza Strip: According to Gaza health officials, early daybreak on Saturday, Israeli forces encircled and bombarded the Indonesian Hospital in the northern town of Beit Lahia.

According to Marwan Sultan, the facility’s director, Israeli tanks have encircled the hospital entirely, turned off the electricity and blasted the building, using artillery to target the second and third floors.
Patients and medical personnel are at significant risk. Israel had targeted the upper floors, according to a statement from Gaza’s health ministry, which also noted that “more than 40 patients and wounded in addition to the medical staff” were there.

It also stated that patients and staff were in a “state of great panic” due to “heavy gunfire” directed at the hospital and its courtyard.

Earlier this month, Israel announced a fresh offensive in northern Gaza, claiming it was aimed at Hamas fighters who were reassembling there.

According to Gaza’s civil defence organisation, 33 civilians were killed in an Israeli strike in neighbouring Jabalia the previous evening.

On Friday, the United Nations humanitarian agency persisted in raising concerns about the deteriorating and perilous circumstances that people in northern Gaza are encountering. Families there are attempting to survive under intense shelling and in appalling conditions.
