LONDON: On Thursday, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev met with King Abdullah II of Jordan in Sofia. The two leaders talked about enhancing their relationship and tackling important Middle East issues.
King Abdullah highlighted Bulgaria’s crucial role in hosting the most recent round of the Aqaba Process talks in collaboration with Jordan during the enlarged meeting held at the Presidential Palace. According to the Jordan News Agency, he stated that the conversations were especially pertinent in light of the state of world security today.
The monarch highlighted the two countries’ common geopolitical problems and commended Bulgaria’s contributions to regional stability through its membership in the European Union and NATO. He also emphasised the crucial need to promote greater understanding and collaboration between Bulgaria and Jordan.
Radev also emphasised the importance of the Aqaba Process meetings in addressing urgent security matters in the Middle East and the Balkans, such as radicalisation and counterterrorism. Radev emphasised the shared responsibility of both countries in promoting regional security while reflecting on more than 60 years of Jordan-Bulgaria relations. He also praised the strategic partnership between the two countries and acknowledged Jordan’s leading role in advancing peace and stability in the Middle East.
