Meituan is Expanding its meal delivery business by Looking to Hire in Saudi Arabia.

SHANGHAI: According to Reuters, Meituan, the massive Chinese food delivery company, is trying to fill at least eight positions in Riyadh, suggesting it may be considering Saudi Arabia as a potential partner for its global expansion plans.

Posts seen by Reuters on Linkedin and the Middle Eastern jobs site Bayt.com indicate that KeeTa, the brand name Meituan uses for its food delivery operations in Hong Kong, is hiring and is looking for candidates with experience in business development, user acquisition, and customer retention. Meituan did not immediately reply to Reuters’s request for information regarding its expansion plans into Saudi Arabia.

Riyadh will be the first destination on the Beijing-based company’s Middle East debut, according to a previous Friday report from Bloomberg.

Meituan’s first venture outside of mainland China was to extend to Hong Kong in May 2023. Since then, rumors have persisted that the company will continue to expand overseas as it looks for growth prospects. The Middle East has been mentioned as a potential region for expansion since last year.

We are now assessing prospects in several markets. “During a post-earnings call with analysts last month,” Meituan CEO Wang Xing stated.
